Here. I added all the entries you guys sent in in the very last minutes :D I'm really really proud of all the results. We have some extremely awsome ideas made here and I hope they will encourage you to try to make them on your own. I wish you wouldn't make the judging such a tough thing to do now :)

Read ya soon, I promise.

Bring Out the Trash

*painters launched this great contest and they are encouraging different DA clubs to do the same thing. We decided that recycling is always fun and a great thing to do so we are giving it a go! I hope we will produce many many entries.

If you'd like to know more about the original idea here is the news article.

As we are an Artisan Crafts Club we have our own set of rules. Here they are:

RULES

:bulletpurple: Your entry must be an Artisan Craft or Traditional Art / Sculpture made out of recycled materials (lets say around 90% recycled as there are always the needs for new things in such projects - but please keep them on minimum).

:bulletpurple: Only new submissions will be accepted (dated from February 20th on).

:bulletred: Entries that will be usable (new meaning; new purpose) will be favored. We have a nice example for such an entry from our 1st Recycled Contest

:bulletpurple: How to submit an entry? Send us a note with the subject “Bring Out the Trash”. In it, you must include the size, a description of the mediums you used, and an statement from you about the topic. Notes with entries that don’t follow this guidelines could be ignored since they could be moved directly to the club’s regular submissions queue list, so please write correctly the subject of the note.

:bulletpurple: You don't have to be a member of our club to participate. As recycling is good for the environment we would like to see a lot of entries.

:bulletpurple: Only one entry per person for the sole reason of making that one entry an astonishing one.

:bulletpurple: You have almost 2 months to submit your entry. This means submissions will be closed by April 17th, 2008. Winners will be announced between the 2 weeks of the closure.

just curious, for this contest, does it actually have to be 'recycled' materials or just things that would normally end up in the trash?

I ask because I sometimes make pieces from leftover scraps from previous projects...

Regardless this sounds like a very fun contest!

There are no facts, only interpretations.
wooo hooo

Can you define 'useable' a bit more?
For instance, origami or paper cutting would count less in ornamental form but more as used as a decoration on a greeting card? A quilted wall hanging would get less credit than a bed quilt? A sculpture would be less desireable than a paperweight?
Like that?

Wal-mart free since 2006
does it have to be a "new submission or can it be one that has already been posted?
