THE WEDNESDAY UPDATE

The last but certainly not least CCC update for March. A wonderful turn-out we've had :) Thank you to everyone who participated! See you back in April ;)

Welcome to this month's Creative Craft Challenge!
Our Creative Craft Challenge is a monthly feature where we provide you with information and tutorials about a certain craft and encourage our members to try it out and show us their work.
Join me, leodragon42, every month to put your skill and creativity to the test with a lesson in craft, with tutorials, examples and a place to show off your work in the gallery and on this blog!

The aim of the challenge is to introduce crafts that you may not have heard about or not tried out before and which don't need expensive materials and years of training to complete. This challenge is meant to challenge you to go out of your usual field of work and try something new!

This challenge is NOT a contest or professional work display, this is supposed to be fun and broaden your craft horizons

MASKS

We all know Halloween comes once a year, but chances to dress up should be more than that! Why wait for a holiday when you can make your own mask any time of the year?—and your own holiday while you are at it ;)

March's Creative Craft Challenge theme is Masks. Masks can be made out of all sorts of materials for fancy and fun occasions alike.

---Below you'll find resources as links on how to make a few types of masks. Start with these ideas to make a basic mask then get creative to design it however you'd like!

Tutorials

Considering accessibility (and budget) I've listed paper mache and one leather-mask tutorial but feel free to make any kind of masks you want! These links are to get you started but once you've created the basic form you can add fur, feathers, or whatever your heart desires to spruce them up!

Check out the examples below to get inspired and brain storm some ideas for a mask of your own.
There are many more tutorials to be found here in dA and all over the internet, so try out the search if you need more references.

Every Wednesday I'll update this journal to show our member's creations. Don't 'save face', show it off ;)

Any question, comment or suggestion about the Craft of the Month, mask-making or anything else is ENCOURAGED and can be directed here, on the Craft of the Month blog, or by sending me, leodragon42, a note.

Scary or silly? Natural or nostalgic? What kind of face will you create? :) Let the 'mask-erade' begin!

Great work, everyone! I like seeing the results, even when I haven't had time to participate myself.
